Remedies for Tinnitus; Diagnose Then Apply

If you’re reading this, you’ve probably been searching on the internet for the “magic pill”, which you, or someone you care about can use to cure or at least alleviate your tinnitus. You probably also found that the suggested remedies for tinnitus vary from eating pineapples all the way to severing the nerves to the ear, rendering the patient completely deaf.

The problem with choosing the right remedy is that tinnitus is not really a disease, it’s a symptom which can be the result of many causes. Sometimes, it may be obvious, such as someone in the military who has been subjected to damaging explosions, or in the case of divers, perforating their eardrum or rock musicians performing in dangerously high volume spectacles. (I’ve seen the list of famous people with tinnitus and believe me, it’s extensive).

So, given the tinnitus can be the result of many factors, and that the list of remedies is extensive, the first order of business is to properly diagnose the underlying causes of tinnitus, then consider applying the cure. A proper diagnosis can be performed by your physician and, you should keep researching the subject through books, associations and the internet as you are doing now. Once the underlying cause(s) is identified, then a proper remedy or course of remedies can be applied.

As I mentioned, remedies for tinnitus are numerous, one can be prescribed a course of vitamins, stress reduction, anti-depressants, certain foods to take every day, some to avoid absolutely, I’ve even found that in some cases, histamines have been prescribed and in others, anti-histamines!

No matter what the causes however, there is one paramount rule to apply; it’s to strive to be as healthy as possible, overall. A healthy and balanced diet, some reasonable dietary supplements, stress reduction and exercise are the first steps to a cure. Your willingness to improve your lifestyle, coupled with a pro-active approach should be first on your list of remedies for tinnitus.
